New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, will be traveling to New York and Washington DC later this week to engage in discussions on global affairs. During his visit, he is set to meet with key US administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The talks are aimed at strengthening New Zealand's ties with the United States.
Peters emphasized that the trip represents an opportunity for direct engagement with the Trump Administration and continuing their mutually beneficial bilateral relationship. "The United States is one of New Zealand's closest and most important partners," he said. He also expressed enthusiasm about discussing a range of international issues, including those concerning Ukraine, Gaza, the Indo-Pacific region, and security cooperation.
Mr Peters' visit to the US begins on Thursday 13 March and concludes on Friday 21 March, during which time he will be in New York and Washington DC engaging in diplomatic talks.
