New Zealand's Trade Minister Todd McClay embarks on a trip.
New Zealand's Trade Minister Todd McClay has traveled to Vancouver for the 8th Commission Meeting of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The meeting is expected to focus on accelerating expansion, delivering an ambitious review, and driving rules-based trade.
The CPTPP member nations represent over a third of New Zealand's total trade worth $64 billion, which also accounts for 15 per cent of global GDP. This opens doors to over 580 million consumers, highlighting the importance of this agreement.
According to Mr McClay, expanding and enhancing CPTPP aligns with New Zealand's goal to double exports by value in 10 years. During his visit, he will meet with New Zealand businesses in Vancouver, further emphasizing the significance of collaboration.
Mr McClay stated that the accession by the United Kingdom and interest shown by other economies demonstrate the value of the CPTPP agreement. As the meeting commences, expectations are high for a fruitful discussion on trade opportunities and cooperation among member nations.
