Trade Minister Todd McClay leads a delegation of nearly 70 New Zealand companies to the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
Trade and Agriculture Minister Todd McClay will lead a significant trade delegation to China next week, consisting of almost 70 New Zealand companies. The mission aims to engage with over 3,400 exhibitors and 410,000 visitors at CIIE in Shanghai, followed by a visit to Guangzhou. This trip is part of the government's promise to lead more trade missions during its term.
Minister McClay emphasized the importance of China as New Zealand's largest export market, accounting for $38 billion in two-way trade. He will meet with Chinese trade leaders and deliver a keynote address at the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, reinforcing New Zealand's commitment to expanding trade partnerships.
During his visit to Guangzhou, a commercial gateway for New Zealand into southern China, Minister McClay will engage with Kiwi businesses operating in the region. The mission aims to showcase New Zealand's safe, high-quality products and services to China's growing middle class of over 500 million consumers, ultimately supporting the government's goal of doubling exports by value within ten years.
This is Minister McClay's second visit to China this year, following political meetings in April, highlighting the significance of strengthening trade relationships between the two countries.
