New Zealand to host top Thai diplomat.
New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters has announced that Thailand's Foreign Minister, Maris Sangiampongsa, will visit the country this week. The trip marks an important step in elevating bilateral relations between the two nations to a 'Strategic Partnership' by 2026.
According to Peters, Thailand is a key economic and security partner for New Zealand in Southeast Asia, with Foreign Minister Maris bringing a unique understanding of their partnership due to his previous role as Ambassador. During his visit, he will meet with Trade Minister Todd McClay and Climate Change Minister Simon Watts.
Minister Maris arrives on Thursday and departs on Sunday, underscoring the significance of this diplomatic visit in strengthening ties between New Zealand and Thailand.
