Two new appointments have been made to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) board.

Tertiary Education and Skills Minister Penny Simmonds announced the appointment of Dr Alan Bollard CNZM and Mr Bharat Guha to the TEC board.

Dr Bollard brings extensive experience as a public sector leader, board member and Chair, with expertise in governance, finance and economics. He will contribute his financial acumen and economic knowledge to the commission.

Mr Guha, Chief Financial Officer at the Invercargill Licensing Trust, has significant financial skills and senior management experience in vocational education and training. His appointment aims to inject new levels of energy and engagement into the board.

Emeritus Professor Alastair MacCormick CNZM, a current board member since 2017, has been reappointed for another year until October 2025. Minister Simmonds praised Professor MacCormick's governance experience and university knowledge as invaluable to the TEC board. The minister also announced plans to address the Chair vacancy and an upcoming member vacancy later this year.

The new appointments aim to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the TEC, with a focus on driving positive change in tertiary education.
