Labour has echoed Minister Chris Bishop's call for input on a second Waitematā Harbour crossing in Auckland.
The project, which Labour transport spokesperson Tangi Utikere says Auckland needs "for at least a decade," was previously proposed by the opposition party. A preferred route was announced before the election but details remain unclear.
Labour is pushing for transparency from the Government regarding the work done so far and urging cross-party agreement on long-term infrastructure projects to ensure continuity after a potential change in government.
According to Labour Auckland spokesperson Carmel Sepuloni, a second harbour crossing is essential for New Zealand's biggest city and requires urgent decision-making. The party believes it would be beneficial to include the Auckland Mayor and council in discussions to move the project forward efficiently.
