Peters Returns from North Asia Trips

New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister concludes visits to key nations.

New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters has completed his week-long tour of China, Mongolia and South Korea. During the visit, he met with foreign ministers to strengthen ties in the region. The trip aimed to deepen engagement between New Zealand and North Asia.

Mr. Peters highlighted opportunities for enhanced cooperation on security, trade, and people-to-people links. He reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship between New Zealand and South Korea, which is New Zealand's fourth-largest trading partner. The two countries are working towards finalizing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

In his capacity as Minister for Rail, Mr. Peters met with Hyundai Heavy Industries, a shipbuilding company, to discuss potential options for new ferries. This meeting is part of an ongoing global search for new vessels. New Zealand will make further announcements on this matter after Cabinet meets at the end of March.
