Green Party Co-Leader Chlöe Swarbrick has expressed disappointment over Prime Minister Christopher Luxon's refusal to commit to meeting the Paris Agreement.
The Prime Minister, during an interview with Q&A this morning, remained ambiguous on the country's stance towards the international climate agreement. The Green Party spokesperson for Climate Change emphasized that climate commitments are "hard scientific limits" that require each country to take action for a liveable planet.
According to Swarbrick, Luxon's refusal to commit to meeting the promises made at COP29 last week is concerning and indicates a lack of urgency in addressing climate change. The Green Party is set to unveil its alternative Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP) next weekend, which will outline an economy that supports both people and the planet.
