Resources Minister Shane Jones highlights sector progress.
The Coalition Government's efforts to boost the mining sector will take center stage at the world's largest annual mining conference in Toronto, Canada. Resources Minister Shane Jones is set to attend the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada conference, which draws over 30,000 attendees from 135 countries.
During his visit, Mr. Jones will showcase New Zealand's progress in the sector, highlighting key initiatives such as the recently launched Minerals Strategy and Critical Minerals List. He aims to present a clear message that New Zealand is "doing business" and ready for investment. The Minister believes this approach will attract more investment, creating high-paying regional jobs, generating revenue, and driving economic growth.
Mr. Jones' participation in the Mines Minister Summit offers an opportunity to speak directly with industry leaders and investors about his vision for the resources sector. He will also meet with CEOs, investment firms, and ministerial counterparts to discuss New Zealand's fast-track legislation and its potential benefits.
The conference marks a significant milestone for the Coalition Government as it seeks to double mineral exports to NZ$3 billion by 2035. Minister Jones returns from Toronto on March 7.
