New Zealand commemorates its fifth year of lockdown measures.
As New Zealand marks the fifth anniversary of its first COVID-19 lockdown, the country's residents are still grappling with pandemic-related impacts on their businesses, education, and health. National MP Nicola Willis acknowledges this ongoing struggle, urging citizens to share their experiences with the ongoing COVID-19 inquiry.
The second phase of the inquiry began in November last year and is set to conclude in February 2026. The investigation will cover matters including vaccine use, lockdowns, testing, and public health materials. Both ACT-National and New Zealand First-National coalition agreements have committed to expanding the inquiry into COVID-19.
Members of the public can submit their experiences on the COVID-19 inquiry portal at www.covid19inquiry.nz until 27 April 2025. The final report is expected in February 2026, with recommendations aimed at better preparing New Zealand for future events.
