Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith announces the appointment of a new leader to the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
The Honourable Denis Clifford has been appointed as the new Chief Commissioner, bringing extensive expertise and experience to the role. A former judge at both the Court of Appeal and High Court, Clifford also practiced commercial and public law as a partner at Buddle Findlay before joining the independent bar in 2002. He previously worked as Legal Advisor, Policy and Legal in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Clifford joins Suzanne Robertson KC, Emma Finlayson-Davis, and reappointed Commissioner Professor Tracy McIntosh on the Commission. Justice Minister Goldsmith thanked outgoing Chief Commissioner Colin Carruthers KC, Nigel Hampton KC, and Dr Virginia Hope for their service.
The new appointees will begin their terms on 2 December 2024.
