Two experienced professionals have been appointed to the Ferry Holdings Board.
Katherine Rich, a former Chief Executive of the New Zealand Food & Grocery Council and current CEO of Business NZ, brings extensive knowledge of industry operations and public sector expertise to the role. Captain Iain MacLeod, a seasoned mariner with over 40 years of experience in New Zealand and the Pacific, will provide critical insight into maritime operations.
According to Minister for Rail Winston Peters, the new board is "already hard at work" assessing alternative proposals, engaging with infrastructure stakeholders, and driving progress on the North-South connection. Mr Peters praises the pragmatic skills and insight that Mrs Rich and Captain MacLeod bring to the table, emphasizing their expertise in customer needs and maritime operations.
The appointments aim to support the efficient connection of the Strait and address concerns surrounding ferry replacement and infrastructure development. With a combined background in industry leadership, governance, and mariner experience, the new board members are well-positioned to tackle the complex challenges ahead.
