New Zealand and German ties deepen.
New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters has expressed enthusiasm about enhancing the country's partnership with Germany, following a recent meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Berlin. The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including cooperation in the Pacific, shared security challenges, and addressing global issues such as climate change.
Peters emphasized the importance of New Zealand and Germany working together, particularly given their significant economic ties and Germany's position as a leader in renewable energy and clean technologies. Both countries also discussed their support for Ukraine in the face of Russia's invasion, with Peters praising Germany's contributions to Ukraine's defense.
This visit marks Peters' first trip to Berlin since 2016, and he will now continue his European tour in the United Kingdom, marking the final stop on his three-country itinerary.
