Resources Minister Shane Jones speaks at IMARC in Sydney.
Resources Minister Shane Jones will represent New Zealand at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney this week, marking the country's return to the international mining stage. As part of his visit, Mr Jones will update influential players in the sector on the Coalition Government's efforts to grow New Zealand's mining industry.
The government aims to boost regional opportunities, create jobs, increase self-sufficiency, and drive economic recovery by utilising mineral reserves. Key initiatives include the draft Minerals Strategy, Critical Minerals List, and GNS report on New Zealand's minerals potential. Mr Jones will meet with industry leaders, investors, and government representatives during his visit.
The trip is part of a broader effort to rebuild international investor confidence in New Zealand's mining sector and unlock its natural resource opportunities. Minister Jones' message to potential operators and investors is that the government is taking a proactive approach to develop its resources sector. He leaves for Sydney on October 28 and returns on October 31.
