Health officials marked a significant milestone today with the sod turning ceremony for a new mental health facility at Hillmorton Campus.
The $multi-million project, set to be completed by 2027, will provide 80 inpatient beds for adults with acute needs. According to Health Minister Simeon Brown and Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey, this marks an important step towards modernising mental health services in Canterbury. The facility's design incorporates contemporary features and a safer environment for those requiring care.
The redevelopment of Hillmorton Campus will continue over the next 10-15 years, aiming to meet community needs now and into the future. This project reflects the Government's commitment to delivering fit-for-purpose facilities for improved mental health outcomes.
