Reforms aim to improve court efficiency and fairness.
The New Zealand Government has introduced a series of law changes to Parliament, aimed at improving the country's justice system. The Regulatory Systems (Justice) Amendment Bill package focuses on increasing timeliness in the courts, enhancing access to justice, and streamlining existing regulations.
Associate Minister of Justice Nicole McKee announced the introduction of three Bills: the Regulatory Systems (Courts) Amendment Bill, the Regulatory Systems (Occupational Regulation) Amendment Bill, and the Regulatory Systems (Tribunals) Amendment Bill. These changes aim to provide more flexibility in jury selection, ease regulatory burdens on businesses, and make the system fairer for successful applicants.
According to Mrs McKee, these law changes will have a meaningful impact and deliver on the Government's commitments. The Bills will relieve regulatory burdens, improve access to justice, and increase efficiency throughout the justice system. New Zealanders are expected to benefit from these reforms, which include easing strict timing requirements for real estate licensees and allowing jurors' time to be better utilized.
