Hunt Permit System Upgraded

Hunt Permit System Upgraded

New Zealand's hunting permit system is getting a significant overhaul.

The New Zealand government has announced an upgraded hunting permit system, designed to make it easier for 34,000 hunters on public conservation land to obtain permits. According to Minister for Hunting and Fishing James Meager, the upgrade will feature longer permits valid for 12 months, automatic reminders before expiration, and improved navigation on mobile devices.

The current system's outdated technology has been addressed through feedback from hunters. The upgraded permit system will simplify selecting hunting areas by grouping them into eight regions, with all existing areas within each region automatically included. Hunters can also opt to select all hunting areas in New Zealand at once.

This upgrade reflects the government's commitment to supporting the hunting and fishing community on conservation land. The new system is set to be launched by the Department of Conservation in May, aiming to make life easier for both domestic and international hunters.
