Government streamlines survey and title application process.
The government's efforts to improve the building and construction pipeline have resulted in a significant reduction in the time it takes to process survey and title applications. According to Minister for Land Information Chris Penk, this improvement will enable housing developments to progress more quickly.
Applications to issue titles and subdivide land are crucial components of the building development process and can contribute to delays if not processed efficiently. In New Zealand, it currently takes approximately 569 days to build a house, which is considered inadequate during the ongoing housing crisis.
To address this, Land Information New Zealand has focused on core services, including expediting subdivision transactions and optimizing resource allocation. As a result, average survey processing time has decreased by nearly two weeks compared to last year. Title applications are also being processed faster, with an average reduction of two days.
While some applications still take too long, this improvement is seen as a positive step towards simplifying and speeding up survey and title processing. The goal is to make it easier for Kiwis to access more affordable housing through improved public services.
