Health Minister Opens New Manukau Expansion

Health Minister Opens New Manukau Expansion

New East Building at Manukau Health Park now operational.

Health Minister Simeon Brown officially opened the new East Building at Manukau Health Park on [date]. The $multi-million expansion marks a significant milestone in the Grow Manukau programme, doubling the park's footprint to around 30,000m2 by 2027.

The modern building is home to ophthalmology and women's health services. It has been designed to provide patients with streamlined care, increased efficiencies, and access to new models of care. The relocation of clinics from Middlemore Hospital will enable a 'one-stop shop' for services, improving the patient experience and reducing wait times.

Manukau Health Park is set to deliver 150,000 additional outpatient appointments and 3,600 more surgical procedures to serve the rapidly growing South Auckland population once complete. The full Grow Manukau redevelopment programme is expected to be finished in 2027, featuring new buildings, facilities, and extensive refurbishments.

According to Mr Brown, improving health infrastructure is a priority for the Government to ensure patients have access to timely, quality healthcare. The East Building expansion will provide an enhanced patient experience and increase capacity across the Counties Manukau district.
