Dame Tariana was a pioneering leader who championed justice, love, and care throughout her career. She played a crucial role in shaping the Government's Whānau Ora policy and stood firm during contentious debates on the Foreshore and Seabed issue in 2004. Her tireless efforts also contributed to a Smokefree Aotearoa initiative.
