A productive year in Parliament.
Leader of the House Chris Bishop has announced a busy and successful legislative year for the coalition Government, citing key achievements in rebuilding the economy, restoring law and order, and reducing the cost of living.
According to Mr. Bishop, 52 Government Bills have successfully passed their third readings, while 83 Government Bills passed their first reading, and 47 were reported back from select committee. Important legislation includes the Fast-track Approvals Bill, Budget 2024, the Gangs Bill, and the Education and Training Amendment Bill.
A notable achievement is the swift passage of a Bill to protect greyhounds under urgency with unanimous support from Parliament. Mr. Bishop thanked all parties for their cooperation and acknowledged the hard work of various staff and officials who contribute to the smooth operation of Parliament.
As 2024 comes to a close, Parliament will return in January, setting the stage for another productive year. Key statistics from the past year include 93 First Readings, 60 Bills reported back from Select Committee, and over 1,700 papers presented to the House by Ministers.
