Foreign Minister Heads to Latin America

New Zealand's Foreign Minister embarks on regional tour.

New Zealand's Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, will travel to Chile, Mexico, and Peru next week as part of a bilateral visit. This trip aims to strengthen ties with two of New Zealand's closest partners in the region.

Mr Peters expressed his enthusiasm for visiting Chile and Mexico, citing their close partnerships on trade, environmental issues, and multilateral organisations. The Foreign Minister will engage in diplomatic meetings with counterparts, parliamentarians, and academics during his visits to Santiago and Mexico City.

During his three-day visit, Mr Peters will also attend the APEC Ministerial Meeting in Lima, Peru. This trip offers an opportunity for New Zealand to discuss shared challenges and opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region with its Latin American partners.

Mr Peters is scheduled to leave New Zealand on Sunday 10 November and return on Saturday 16 November.
