New Zealand's Education Minister in attendance.

The Education Minister, Erica Stanford, is currently attending the 23rd edition of public policy conference Consilium in Australia. She will engage with local officials and experts, as well as share her plans for New Zealand's education system, particularly on closing the equity gap.

Minister Stanford expressed admiration for new educational initiatives in Australia, specifically mentioning the introduction of explicit curriculum changes in New South Wales and structured reading approaches in Victoria from 2025. During her visit, she will also address a session titled 'Can Education in Australia be reformed?' where she will outline her vision for delivering world-leading education.

Throughout her time in Australia, Minister Stanford is scheduled to meet key figures in the Australian education sector, including former UK Schools Minister Nick Gibb and Senator Sarah Henderson. After attending Consilium, she returns to New Zealand on 27 October.
